You will complete required adoption education and an international home study with Gladney or a licensed provider in your state. As part of your preparation, Gladney families participate in Pathways, Gladney’s evidence‑based adoption training program designed to help you build the skills and understanding needed for lifelong adoption success. Alongside your training, your home study will assess your readiness to adopt and ensure you meet U.S. and country-specific requirements. This step is both educational and reflective, helping you feel informed, supported, and prepared for the journey ahead.
3.
USCIS Approval and Dossier Preparation
Once your home study is approved, you will apply to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for permission to adopt internationally. At the same time, you will gather and prepare your dossier—a collection of documents required by your chosen country’s adoption authority.
4.
Matching Process (Receiving a Referral)
After your dossier is sent to your chosen country, you will enter the waiting process. When a child is identified for your family, you will receive a referral that includes the child’s social and medical history. Our team will guide you through reviewing the information so you can make an informed decision. If you are pursuing a waiting child, the country program will issue your formal referral after reviewing and approving your dossier.

Travel and Finalization
